About Reiki for Animals

Reiki is a gentle non invasive complementary therapy, said to use natural energy flow for health and well-being.  The word Reiki means spiritual energy, "Rei" meaning spirit and "Ki" meaning energy.  We feel the connection strongly through our hands but Reiki flows from every area of our body Its gentle nature means that it is suitable for all types and ages of people and animals.  As with all complementary therapies, a consultation is required before the session starts and we work with the agreement of your Vet.

What happens during an Animal Reiki treatment?

We work through meditation to create a Reiki space.  Some animals may choose to position themselves a distance away from the practitioner at the start of a treatment, but may move around as the treatment progresses. This varies for each animal and they should always be allowed the freedom to choose.   It is not uncommon for an animal to fall asleep during a treatment.

Benefits of Reiki may include:

  • Deep relaxation, assisting with symptoms of stress and tension
  • Reduced tiredness
  • A positive change in mood and performance
  • A general sense of well-being
  • Improvement of behavioural issues

     After a Reiki Treatment

  • After the treatment the animal may feel deeply relaxed and as Reiki is used to stimulate natural re-balancing, the animal may wish to rest.
  • Animals require plenty of fresh water after a treatment.

Reiki is a complementary therapy and not a substitute for Veterinary care.  If your animal is sick or injured you should always consult a Vet.
